Those that were prepared lived through those experiences with much better memories than those that were not. In the past year this country has suffered severe economic problems. If you watch the mainstream media it would appear that things are on the path to recovery. The reality is things are worsening - and you better prepare.

What May Be Awaiting Us in the Future?
Nuclear War: Many people believe it is inevitable that a major disaster effecting the entire nation will occur and involve the use of nuclear weapons. Whether from a terrorist organization or sponsored by a rogue nation - nuclear weapon use must be considered in your disaster preparation plans. Recently a new television show called "Jericho" has been aired and the story follows a small town in Kansas as the United States has been hit with multiple terrorist nuclear weapons. The series shows how the country would be devastated from just a few nuclear weapons set off in major cities. No food, no police protection, no medicine - people must be able to care for themselves or.......................Yes, the Cold War of the 70's and 80's is over - however the chance of Nuclear War is far from over.
Natural Disasters: The need to prepare is real. Disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year. If a disaster occurs in your community, local government and disaster-relief organizations will try to help you, but you need to be ready as well. Local responders may not be able to reach you immediately, or they may need to focus their efforts elsewhere. You should know how to respond to severe weather or any disaster that could occur in your area - hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme cold, flooding, or terrorism. You need to be able to be self-sufficient. This mean's providing for your own shelter, first aid, food, water, and sanitation for you and your family.
Terrorist Attack: So many people have put September 11th out of their mind and the emotions generated from the reality of that day are long gone for many. The reality of today is that many terrorist organizations are making every attempt to prepare for another attack within the borders of the United States. Remember, in their eyes we are the "bad guys" and must die. There is also substantial evidence that a future attack will involve nuclear weapons. Many pundit's in the mass media discuss "When the recovery will begin?". When I hear that I immediately think - "The worst hasn't arrived yet!".
Here are some thoughts on the economy and what lays ahead.
- The United States is a Consumer Nation - not a manufacturing nation. Very few things are made in the USA anymore. Go to Wal-Mart or Target and try to find a shirt or pair of jeans made in the states. I implore you to find a toy....any toy at all - that is made in the United States. The United States economy is largly based on Consumption. Remember that.
- As unemployment continues to rise - currently approx. 500,000 new unemployment claims per week - less money is available for consumption (buying stuff). As more and more money is removed from circulation - less and less consumption takes place. Basically - people spend less because they have less.
- Due to lower consumption - those businesses that depend on consumption will take in less money. As they reduce costs (lay people off) to stay profitable and stay in business - the entire cycle continues.
- In summary and on a continual basis - more and more people have less and less money causing more and more businesses to lay off more people causing more people to have less money and.........It continues.
- What you can end up with is an economic collapse with unemployment over 20% and people wondering how to feed their family.
I am very concerned of the extent of the economic collapse that awaits us in the near future. It is highly recommended that preparations start NOW....not later. Is there any way out of this - possibly. In my opinion - it is possible that a giant Government Sponsored economic stimulus plan which creates millions of jobs could jump start our economy again. Let's hope it works - as that is just what the Obama Administration is proposing.
Crime Wave/Society Breakdown: One of the definite possibilities should the economy breakdown and crash is an increase in crime as fewer jobs and oppotunities exist. Watch your local news now and you very well may see more breaking and entry crimes - amny of which are people looking for ittems they can steal and sell. Desparate times will cause despearate measures from otherwise law-abiding citizens. It is suggested to further strengthen the security of your apartment/home to protect against break-ins. Be very aware when out in public who may be watching you. Park in a well lit area at night. Be smart....be safe.
Super Volcano: There have been several super volcano eruptions in this planets past - with world devastating effects. One of the most popular and possible current super volcano's is at Yellowstone National Park in the United States. See picture below for a graphic representation. What everyone needs to understand is the eruption of a super volcano - anywhere in the world - will effect the rest of the lanet. A dust cloud will cover much of the incoming sun's light and cause catastrophic weather changes for months and years to come. Do a little research on the internet to see just how devastating a super volcano would be.
